Feliks Topolski: artist notes on 'Memoir of the Century' - 30 Present
Homeground. Near-fatal disease. Lame anti-climaxes: the powerless, dignities-trimmed, body - the International Court of Justice at the Hague ponderously failing over West Sahara; the fading hippies blending with the old dossers. But from being hemmed in amongst my declining generation I am rescued for the time being by the young around me: my wife, my son (his sporting fate), my daughter. These panels close the past. It is from now onward, no more the Memoir but the Diary. A canvas-scroll proposes that it continues from day to day.
